Thinking of making the switch to mineral makeup? You see it everywhere these days but it can be a bit intimidating. I switched over from liquid foundation about one years ago and my makeup and skin have never been better!

How to Easily Apply Mineral Makeup 1
Step 1 So, you're thinking of switching to mineral makeup but curious perhaps about how to apply it. Well, there could not be a better time to take the leap! So many cosmetic companies now offer mineral makeup. Some, such as mineral pioneer Bare Minerals, offer strictly mineral based beauty products. Others, such as Almay, Revlon, Maybelline, offer a line of mineral makeup as well as their traditional items.
Step 2 If you'd like to experiment, prior to purchasing, the first thing to do is pop into a Sephora or Ulta beauty store where you can test the many, many mineral items available. If you do not have such a store near you ... don't fret. Applying mineral makeup is quite different than regular makeup but very easy to do. The result is a great look and healthy skin.
Step 3 Start first with a freshly cleaned face. If you need to moisturize do so prior to applying any makeup. Be certain you then wait until your skin feels fully dry. Make sure to have clean makeup brush on hand as most mineral makeup is in powder form. There are tons of makeup brushes out there but the ones intended for mineral makeup truly work best. You can purchase these brushes where you buy mineral makeup.
Step 4 Now pick the foundation shades of your choice. Many tones are available. You open the packaging and put a little foundation powder into the cap. You twirl the powder around with your application brush. Tap off the extra back into the cap. Now you are ready to apply. Buff it gently into your skin working evenly all over your face. I work in a circular motion because I find it easiest. It's great because it leaves no tell tale line at your jaw. It really does blend effortlessly. If you'd like more coverage, repeat the process again. The key is to build slowly until you have the amount on that covers any imperfections that you might have. We all have little areas we need extra coverage on and mineral makeup works great at solving such problems. I have sun spots that need extra attention and the mineral foundationsdo a great job at covering them ... you'd never even know they were there!
Step 5 After your foundation you may want to wear blush or a bit of highlighter. These are applied in the same way...concentrating on your cheek area and across the bridge of your nose for a healthy look. Again, less is more so just work a small amount at a time.
Step 6 You can finish with a translucent mineral powder of your choice. Bare Minerals makes a fabulous one, called Mineral Veil, that controls shine and sets your makeup. Application is the same and takes just seconds.
Step 7 I have sensitive skin and cannot say enough about how much I love mineral makeup. So glad I switched! I highly recommend finding a brand you like and giving it a try.
